What is Happening to our farms?!?!?!?

I just received this today and I’ve gone to the website and reseached what I could. I am going to have to get on board with this. At first, I thought it was just King County but if you read, it says that Washington Dept of Revenue is reclassifying….so could include more than just King County. I am tired of people continuously going after what I’ve got. Do you remember when farms used to be everywhere? Now, it seems that boarding stables in our area are getting few and far between...

This subject, like the elimination of the King County fair is the next step in eliminating horse owners. What? What has happened to old traditions and values that we used to think were important. I am asking you to visit the website below
http://www.savewashingtonhorsefarms.org/ and please sign the petition. Whether you are a horse boarder, horse trainer, or just a horse owner, or maybe you are just someone who enjoys driving by and seeing some horses once in awhile. They are trying to make it impossible for us to afford our land. Please help us so that are children can continue to know the joys and responsibility of taking care of their own horse. Also, please forward to those you know that might sign the petition so that we can show them that we do care about our farms.

I sent the link to the petition to a bunch of people, with the instructions to pass it on to everyone they know, horse people or not!

I love your blog, keep up the good work!

Trainer X- Thanks for posting this! They added a template to use if you can't come up with your own words when sending either to gov't officials or friends/everyone in the state you know who has a horse or knows someone with a horse. They said they are also getting tons of great comments, so feel free to use the blank email format and give them a piece of your mind.

Thanks again!!

That totally sucks. It's already bad. Is that something just locals can sign? I'm in Ohio, I don't know if that's something I'd be able to help at all. If that was happening here, I'd surely be signing and passing it on.

Trainer X, Thank you for your support. The Department of Revenue (DOR) has it in their minds that horses are not livestock and should not be considered part of farm and ag. It is critical that we email, write, and/or call our state representatives and implore them to let the DOR know that they and their constituents feel that horses are a critical part of our farm and ag communities. That the farm and ag open space laws should also protect all horse farms. Time is critical!
