Really?????

http://www.dreamhorse.com/show_horse.php?form_horse_id=1339756&share_this=Y

I'm sorry, but this is a July 2007 colt. Up for stud... soooooo he is a year and a half old, hasn't proven himself at all, and is still a baby. BUT! For $600.00 YOU can breed your mare to him...

C'mon people REALLY!?!?! This is beyond making my damn head hurt... we have no clue what in the hell your little colt is capable of, or what he'll look like 100% until he's done growing. The only thing we can go off of is his pedigree. And oh my! Can that be deceiving...

So, let me get this straight. You "MUST" rehome your 31 yo horse???? Oh, but don't worry, they say he has many years and miles left on him... *HEADDESK* I'm so sure... What the ad should really say is;

"Hi. I'm an asshat who would like to un-burden myself of this old nag of a horse. See while we've used and abused this poor guy, he is no longer of use to us anymore. So come get him for free and like I give a shit what you do with him after that..."

Yes, I'd say that sounds a bit more accurate...

I'm truly beginning to think that people are becoming more and more brain dead in this industry... and I'm a little more than concerned. What. Tell me What is going to take to get through to some of these people. Who looks at a yearling and says "OK, let's breed 'em" or trying to get rid of a 31 yo??? When these people actually take a step back and look at the big picture, does this look like something a "normal" person would do?? And what's the market for yearling studs and 31 yo run down horses?? NOT GOOD! So please PULL your damn head OUT of your ass and pay attention to reality. YOU are an idiot and should have zippo, zilch, nada, nothing to do with horses EVER in your life... Here's the sad thing. Lame ads like these are becoming more and more common...

Holy crap. Oh, that poor appy. Oh, my. Yeah, use 'em up, and send them down the road....
The "stud"??? Holy idiot sticks Batman.. Yeah, he has testicles, let's breed him. He's a BABY!!!!!

ND Appy
5 years old, and "partly halter broke?????????"
How do people do that?? Is that like we show him the halter, and he breaks it? Fairly easy to catch? Yeah, I want that in the barn.

My head is sore. ASShats.

Serendipity said...

That elderly appy looks just like our barn's babysitter. Poor old man. Do they really think a stranger's going to step up and give him a home in his last years when they can't be arsed to?

There's a special place in hell for these people.

That ad of the stallion is terrible! His leg looks completely deformed from that angle! Bad idea, and bad marketing.

Trainer X said...

The stud colt is a fugly POS! And yes, yes there is a fine place in the depths of hell for these A-HOLES with the old Appy!!!

Their not going to pull their heads of their asses. It's their world, their fantisy world *head desk*. I've said it once, now I'll say it again. The asshats that should never have or horse, let a lone breed them are coming out. Unfortunately while they live in their fantisy world, their horses are suffering. They don't care though they just want to make a quick buck *head desk*. I vote we stick all of these morons, on an island, by themselves, to deal with each each others stupidity. I am serious. I'm tired of seeing what asshats do to their horses. So let's just separate them from the general equine community, and life should be good.....

oooooh Asshat Island!!! I like that!!!

And as sad as it is- these ads are more common around the Holidays.

Will hold for Christmas, then get their ass out of here.

These people suck! And I loathe even calling them people. They belong in another category altogether. AWAY from the rest of us.

ND_Appy: It's too bad, he actually appears to be a decent-looking animal. Unfortunate that he's with people that are too lazy to register him and too stupid to work with him.

That poor old man Appy. He deserves a nice retirement pasture, not a quick dump-off to someplace that will likely use up every little bit he has left.

Sent an response to the owners of the colt. Pasted below for your edification and entertainment.

Is this a joke?

You have a yearling stud COLT that I'm supposed to pay $600 for the privilege of breeding my mare to? Good luck getting a lot of suckers. He's a cute little guy but we don't even know what he will end up looking like--never mind what sort of abilities he's inherited!

Here's an example of what you're competing with. For $650 from Yancey Farms I can get semen from ABKE, 1999, 16.1.

"His foals turn out well and several of them qualified for the German Foal Championships, which earned Abke the Ib main premium at the 2003 approval in Oldenburg. Two years later at the same location, his first son (out of the same dam line as the Dutch jumper-maker, Zuidhorn) was licensed. In 2006 another son was licensed in Redefin, awarded a premium and stationed at the State Stud. Abke passes on only dark colours; there are no chestnuts.
[...]
Licensed for Oldenburg, Oldenburg-International, Hanover and practically all German Verbands. International societies upon request."

Oh yeah, and he looks like this.

That gelding just breaks my heart. Maybe it's because I got my first horse when he was 23 and I vowed to be his last home ever. I've got a soft spot for oldies and absolutely NO tolerance for the dicks that are unwilling to repay the old timers for all that they've done. It pisses me off more than anything >:{ If I didn't live in Florida and/or had any business getting another horse, I'd snatch him up to save him from what's probably coming to him. Bless his heart, and good luck to the dear soul!

TX- $1800 for a horse with no feet, who's done evarything...

I can't even think of something smart ass to say to that one!

And chickenrider,

PLEASE let me know what, if any, response you get. LOVE the letter!

Oh my, the person with the Hanoverian is just plain ignorant I guess. Don't they have ANY clue about getting breeding stock approved and into the stud books? Yes he has a nice pedigree but a piece of paper does not a stallion quality horse make. ESPECIALLY in a BABY of warmblood breeding since they mature slower than many breeds! Ugh! Screw the desk, I'm going for *headwall* *headwall* *headwall*

That poor old gelding kills me. Last month I lost my old man to a stroke. He was an App and 20 years old and I'd had him since he was four. I'm in Texas (around Dallas) but if anyone thinks it would be possible to figure out some way to do a transport even part of the way here I'd take him in a heartbeat. Then he could live out his life with me and my other horses. The pic of him with the unicorn horn breaks my heart.

Holy shit on a stick, WTF is wrong with his left front leg? What a completely unremarkable horse. But hey, he has blood from original German lines! So let's breed him! But seriously... what the fuck is up with that leg?

As for the dead broke Appy... I'm both aghasted and incredibly angry at the same time. The only other miles this poor guy needs on him are those collected from walking around in a big, green pasture. Why do so many people throw away their animals? If you've had him and used him for this long, can't you just put him on retirement board? Assholes.
