94 And Still GOING!

These are photos of my 94 year old grandfather (and Dad who's making sure he's safe), who INSISTED on riding my 6 yr old paint mare Sole'. If I wasn't there taking the pictures I wouldn't have believed it myself!!!! Freaking AMAZING! We walked all over the farm, down to visit my goats and my other horses. Sole' was such a trooper and packed him around the whole time! I Love this Mare!!!!!

What a beautiful horse!!! I LOVE LOVE LOVE her coloring.

Also yay! for your grandfather. If my grandmother had been at all interested in horses that is something I could see her doing.

Wow, that's amazing to have nearly 100 years of life experience. I hope when I'm that old, I can still climb on a horse too!

Wow!!!
He needs to come ride more often! Maybe a cushy pad for the saddle to make his ride more comfy?
Was he sore? Thanks for sharing!

Your grandpa must have felt soooo good to do that with you! Thanks for sharing.

I lost my dad before I bought my horses as an adult. I wish I could have shared it with him. He loved horses, too & I have pictures of him riding when he was younger.

OMG. I want your horse. She's so beautiful. :):)

The man we bought our first horse from two years ago was 84. He had still been fox hunting all winter every year up until then, and was only stopping because Tralee was also getting old (18 when we bought him) and had been hunted since he was 4, and also his grand daughter was getting too nervy about him going out. If she hadn't said anything to him I expect he'd still be galloping along with a pipe in one hand and a leg over the pommel.

He and Tralee are both well known down here and everyone seems to recognise our horse when mum takes him for his once yearly hunt.
